Lyle Turner has joined Global Integrity as our Managing Director of Technology and Product Development, to initially focus on scaling up Indaba, our data collection software.

In this new role, Turner will oversee Indaba’s software development strategy moving forward and help Global Integrity achieve penetration of the platform into a much larger user base.

“I wanted to work in a product that would make an impact,” Turner said. “In this role, I want to become an advocate for Indaba users.”

Turner, 43, sees Indaba as something that has grown out of needs initially specific to Global Integrity but ones that have become common to many other organizations.

“What I see going forward is allowing self-service within Indaba – organizations and users running projects without any direct support from Global Integrity staff,” he said.

A self-dubbed “recovering photojournalist,” Turner worked in several newspapers around the Midwest early in his career.  “But I was always kind of a computer geek,” he confesses, which led him to pursue an advance degree in Instructional Systems Technology at Indiana University.

Prior to joining Global Integrity, Turner was the Director of Development Operations for WisdomTools, Inc., an education software and services company based in Bloomington, Indiana.

He hopes to bring his experience in information and product design and project management to bear on the current Indaba platform and to develop interesting and useful future products to support Global Integritiy’s mission.

In his spare time, Turner enjoys the music of British progressive rock band Yes, plus the books in the Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. “Big,” starring Tom Hanks, is his favorite film.
