Johannes Tonn

Director, Integrity & Anti-corruption

Johannes joined Global Integrity in April 2013 and leads our work on integrity and anti-corruption, including overseeing the Africa Integrity Indicators project. He also thinks about the use and usefulness of data and how the field’s approach to working with data in a politically engaged way might help generate governance and development results more effectively. Prior to joining Global Integrity, he worked on a range of governance projects, including social accountability-focused grassroots work with the Partnership for Transparency Fund (PTF), supporting the decentralization process in Ecuador with the German Development Agency (GIZ) and learning about good governance programs in Mongolia with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV). Before moving to DC, Johannes worked for the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Nigeria, facilitating the implementation of a disarmament, demobilization and reintegration project in the Niger Delta. Johannes obtained his Masters in political science, economics and international law at Heidelberg University, Germany, concentrating on the political economy of coordination processes within international organizations.
